Colloquialisms & Sayings

Are a constant source of vexation if the meaning is not known to whom they are said to. With enough experience and imagination, it is possible to work out these meanings without asking someone, reading a book on the subject, or using the Internet. One day I shall master the art of understanding colloquialisms and sayings, but unfortunately this day will not be in the near future. Literal thinking, as I like to tell myself, is a sign of logic. I do question my logic though; how can someone with ‘logic’ be so execrable at mathematics? Different parts of the brain, perhaps, though I would think they would be closely related in some way.

I just found out that to give someone a ‘kick up the arse’ means you are intending to motivate them or something like that. I found out the ‘hard way’.

My father: “...I’ll give you a kick up the arse.”

Me: “Father, violence does not always solve everything.”

My father: “Alex, that’s a very common saying! You should stop taking everything so literally.”

Me: “My bad...”

My brother finds my stupidity humourous, but I’m just glad I can entertain someone. Haha.

Love, Romance, etc.

Why do you humans bother with 'love' and 'romance'? My theory is that this 'love' you all seem to experience is due to hormones (oxytocin) and instinct. There is nothing remarkable about this. Why do many teenagers get so 'obsessed' (colloquially speaking) with dating? What is the point? Is it so you can subconsciously prepare yourself for your reproductive stage? For heterosexuals this must be true. It is all so confusing and I am glad that I feel no need to be part of this 'romance' business.

Rememberermberered that I have a blog

Yes, I forgot about this. Nothing interesting to inform the public about, other than the fact that I am currently in the process of calibrating the battery of my computer.
I took a photo of champagne with a strawberry in it a while ago, so I thought I would post it on this boring blog. Champagne is very pretty, but it does not taste very nice. I'll just stick to non-alcoholic water.
